Two individuals posing as law enforcement officers have been detained in the city of Chirchiq, Tashkent region, for breaking into a resident’s home and demanding money. This was reported by the Tashkent Regional Main Department of Internal Affairs.
According to the report, the crime was uncovered during operational measures carried out by the regional police and its subordinate units as part of the third stage of the “Safe and Healthy Country” preventive campaign.
In particular, in November this year, two individuals in Chirchiq introduced themselves to citizen R.H. as police officers, accused him of committing a crime, and threatened to inform his workplace. They then forcibly entered his home and demanded money. The suspects initially obtained 2.5 million soums via a bank card and took his mobile phone. Later, in exchange for returning the phone, they received $200. They subsequently threatened to distribute personal videos stored on the phone and demanded an additional 20 million soums.
As a result of the оператив measures, two individuals born in 2003 — identified as B.Sh. and M.U. — were detained while receiving a pre-agreed sum of 10 million soums from the victim. The arrest was carried out by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Personal Security Department and regional оператив units, with material evidence seized. During the investigation, it was established that the suspects had no affiliation with law enforcement agencies.
It was reported that a criminal case has been initiated by the Chirchiq City Department of Internal Affairs under Article 165, Part 2, paragraph “a” of the Criminal Code (extortion), and a measure of restraint in the form of detention has been applied to the suspects.
Earlier, a man in Navoi region was detained for introducing himself as a police officer and blackmailing a woman by threatening to distribute her personal photos.
