On November 2, a temporary flame-out occurred at well No. 202 of the “M-25” gas field in Boysun District, Surkhandarya Region, where gas had been previously ignited. According to experts, the incident was caused by geological processes in the field, the Ministry of Energy reported.

Following the event, gas was promptly re-ignited to prevent the release of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

“This procedure is considered a standard safety approach to prevent environmental pollution and fully complies with international industrial safety requirements. The situation is currently stable and under the control of specialists,” the statement reads.

Officials added that the event was part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the field and that no unexpected incidents were observed. The occurrence was not related to the earthquake recorded at 01:29 a.m. on November 3.

It is worth noting that in May of this year, a similar incident occurred at the same well of the “M-25” field, where gas containing a high concentration of hydrogen sulfide was released under high pressure, resulting in a repeated gas fountain.
