A 22-year-old serviceman attempted to take his own life on April 7 at the Irkeshtam border post in Osh, Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by Turmush.

According to reports, the contract serviceman was taken to a hospital in the village of Nura with a gunshot wound to the head. After receiving emergency first aid, he was urgently transferred to a hospital in Gulcha, the district center.

Doctor Doyirbek Qodirov provided an update on the victim’s condition. According to him, specialists from Osh performed emergency brain surgery on the border guard.

Preliminary reports indicate that the bullet struck the jaw area and passed near the blood vessels around the eye. The patient is currently in a coma and connected to a ventilator. His condition has been assessed as extremely serious.

An expert examination has now been ordered, and the military prosecutor’s office is investigating the cause of the incident. The State Border Service said the serviceman, identified as I.A., fired a shot from an AK-74 rifle. An internal service investigation has also been launched.

It is worth noting that earlier, in Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl region, a shot fired by a guard in the technical area of military unit No. 21742 accidentally struck and killed his superior.
