Journalist and former mayor Nazirjon Saidov passes away

9692Nazirjon Saidov, a journalist and former mayor of Oltinkol district in the Andijan region, has passed away, according to a report by the regional administration.
Born in 1948 in Oltinkol district, Nazirjon Saidov graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Tashkent State University in 1979. He began his career in 1970 as a senior literary employee at the newspaper "Communism Tongi" (now "Andijan Tongi"), which was established by the Andijan District Executive Committee. Over the years, he held various positions, including reporter, department head, and deputy editor.
From 1990 to 1993, Saidov served as the mayor of Oltinkol district. He then worked as the deputy mayor of the Andijan region and as the head of the secretariat from 1993 to 1999. From 2008 to 2021, he led the Andijan regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan.
The regional administration noted that Nazirjon Saidov was honored with several titles, including "Honor of the Country" and "Honored Cultural Worker of Uzbekistan," for his significant contributions to the region's development.
In recognition of his work, Saidov was awarded the title of Honored Cultural Worker of Uzbekistan in 2001 and the "Respect of the Country" order in 2019.
