A new airfield has been built in the Arnasay district of the Jizzakh region, the AvroRJ's SKY reported.
"With the introduction of L-410 and ATR-72 regional aircraft, new airports in Uzbekistan have begun to develop actively. In recent years, the first flights were received in Zomin, Kokand, and Sariosiyo, and today another airfield, Arnasay, has joined them", the report said.
Aerodrome parameters:
- Runway length: 1,700 m × 30 m, course 12/30
- Two parking stands (for ATR and L-410 aircraft)
- Passenger terminal
The new runway was first tested by a CASA C295W military transport aircraft. In the future, the aerodrome is expected to become a transport hub for the upcoming resort complex, opening the area to tourists and significantly increasing travel to the region.
It is worth noting that earlier, it was reported that a new international airport would be built in the Tashkent region. According to Minister of Transport Ilhom Makhkamov, the new airport will be located 17 kilometers from the current Tashkent International Airport, near the existing Tashkent–Samarkand highway and the future toll motorway to be constructed in the area.
