Brother and sister assaulted by their father in Jizzakh sent to orphanage

A brother and sister who were brutally beaten by their father in Jizzakh region have been placed in a family-style orphanage, the National Agency for Social Protection reported.

Earlier, it was reported that a criminal case was opened under Part 2, Article 110 (“Torture”), Clause “a” of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code after the father severely beat, kicked, and assaulted his children.

The incident occurred in Sharof Rashidov district. Following the report, staff from the Jizzakh regional department of the National Agency for Social Protection and other relevant officials arrived at the scene. The children were first taken to a Primary Care Center, where they underwent full medical examinations. Doctors concluded that their health condition was stable.

“The minors were provided with necessary psychological support by specialists from the Sharof Rashidov district ‘Inson’ social services center. They are now placed in a family-style children’s home, under daily supervision and full state protection,” the agency said in its statement.

Authorities confirmed that the children’s mother, who is working abroad, is currently being brought back to Uzbekistan.

This case follows another widely reported incident in Fergana, where a mother was seen beating her child during a TikTok livestream. At the request of the Children’s Ombudsman, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Agency for Social Protection investigated the situation and opened a social protection case for the child. The child is receiving socio-psychological support, while corrective measures are ongoing with the mother.
