In the 1st round of the 3rd stage of the World Cup qualifiers, the national teams of Uzbekistan and North Korea faced off at the "Bunyodkor" stadium.
In the 20th minute, Jaloliddin Masharipov scored the first goal of the match. In the 40th minute, Utkir Yusupov successfully saved a penalty kick.
The first half ended with a slight advantage for Srechko Katanec’s team. Although the Uzbeks were more active in the second half, no additional goals were scored. Thus, the Uzbekistan national team began the group stage with a narrow victory.
For reference, Uzbekistan will play its 2nd round match against Kyrgyzstan. The away game is scheduled for September 10.
