Use of breathalyzers will be introduced in penal colonies

To curb violations by inmates in Uzbekistan's penal colonies, breathalyzers will be introduced. A draft order titled "On making additions to the rules of the internal procedure of institutions for the execution of punishments of deprivation of liberty of the Ministry of Internal Affairs" is currently up for discussion on the normative legal documents portal.
The challenge in monitoring inmates arises from their ability to move freely within residential colonies and work outside the institution's grounds.
Therefore, there is a need to implement breathalyzer devices in these colonies to swiftly detect alcohol consumption among inmates. This initiative aims to decrease the number of violations by installing breathalyzers at the duty stations of penal institutions.
The use of breathalyzers will be governed by specific regulatory legal documents.
