Another convict found dead in penal colony

11022A convict has died in penal colony No. 7 in the Tashkent region, according to a report from the Prosecutor General's Office.
On February 11, 2025, Mustafa Tursinbayev, who was serving his sentence in penal colony No. 7, was involved in the demolition of walls in a one-story building when part of the wall collapsed and crushed him.
Tursinbayev was immediately taken to the hospital. However, despite the medical treatment provided, he passed away in the hospital on February 16.
“A criminal case has been initiated under Article 257 of the Criminal Code (Violation of labor protection rules) in this case. Currently, the Tashkent Special Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation,” the report stated.
It is worth noting that on February 15, the body of 21-year-old convict Muhammadkadir Pulatov was found in colony No. 14 in Almalyk, which is under the Department of Execution of Sentences of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Following this incident, the Ombudsman sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office requesting an investigation.
