Today, November 26, the Chess World Cup concluded in Goa, India. Uzbek chess player Javohir Sindorov emerged as the World Cup champion.

More than 200 chess players from around the world competed for the top prize at this prestigious tournament. Javohir Sindorov advanced all the way to the final, where he faced China’s Wei Yi. The first two games of the match ended in draws. Ultimately, the winner was decided in a tiebreak, in which Sindorov triumphed 1.5–0.5, claiming the World Cup title.

During the tournament, Javohir Sindorov defeated a series of strong opponents, including Nikita Petrov (Montenegro), Nikolas Theodorou (Greece), Yu Yangyi (China), Frederik Svane (Germany), Jose Martinez Alcantara (Mexico), and Nodirbek Yakubboev (Uzbekistan) to reach the final.

It is worth noting that no Uzbek chess player had ever reached the World Cup final before.

With this achievement, Sindorov qualifies to participate in the Candidates Tournament scheduled for March 2026.

Previously, Uzbek chess player Nodirbek Yakubboev had won the bronze medal at the World Cup.
