Nodirbek Yoqubboev finishes fourth at World Cup

Uzbekistani chess player Nodirbek Yoqubboev won the bronze medal at the Chess World Cup currently taking place in Goa, India.
Yoqubboev missed his chance to claim third place in a match against Russian grandmaster Andrey Esipenko, losing 0-2. Esipenko earned a spot in the Candidates Tournament for the 2026 World Chess Championship. Yoqubboev, finishing fourth, received a prize of $50,000.
Meanwhile, the candidates who secured spots in the tournament, Javohir Sindorov (Uzbekistan) and Wei Yi (China), are competing for first place in Goa. On November 25, the two players drew their match, with the winner to be decided today, November 26, after tiebreak games.
It is worth noting that Javohir Sindorov previously reached the final of the FIDE World Cup.
