Kyrgyz President Sadir Japarov explained how investments in the "China-Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan" railway project will be allocated and its impact on Kyrgyzstan's foreign debt in an interview with the "Kabar" agency.

The president clarified that the project is a commercial venture and does not add to external debt.

"The three nations have formed a joint company headquartered in Bishkek. Kyrgyzstan has appointed the CEO, with deputies from China and Uzbekistan. All funds are managed through Bishkek, ensuring that the costs remain under our control and that of the participating countries until the railway is completed. China contributes 51% of the funding, while Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan each contribute 24.5%. Once the investment is repaid, the project ownership will be fully transferred to us," Japarov stated.

Japarov emphasized Kyrgyzstan's primary need for this railway.

"This project will create a transit corridor linking Europe and other countries, including China, via Central Asia. It offers significant economic benefits and promotes geopolitical stability," he said.

It is worth noting that on June 19 of this year, the Kyrgyz Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) ratified the cooperation agreement between the governments of China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan for the joint development of the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway project.
