President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov has signed a law ratifying the agreement on the trilateral border demarcation between the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh, the parliament of Kyrgyzstan, on June 25 of this year.
The primary goal of the ratification is to carry out domestic legal procedures in line with the Kyrgyz laws “On International Treaties” and “On the Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh.”
The agreement outlines the precise demarcation of borders among Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. It is the culmination of many years of negotiations and aims to establish a solid legal foundation for resolving border-related issues and preventing future conflicts.
This agreement also represents a significant step toward strengthening friendly and neighborly relations among the Central Asian nations, while promoting regional stability and security.
For reference, on March 31 of this year, during a meeting in Khujand, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan, and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan signed the agreement marking the point of confluence of their state borders. This point is located in the Fergana Valley, where the Sughd region (Tajikistan), Fergana region (Uzbekistan), and Batken region (Kyrgyzstan) intersect.
