Fire breaks out in “Zarafshan” National Park

Yesterday 29 June, a fire broke out in the forest belonging to the national natural park “Zarafshan” located in the Jomboy district of the Samarkand region.  This is reported by the press service under the regional administration of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

It is noted that at 13:15pm yesterday, the Emergency Situations Department of Jomboy district received a report about a fire occurring in the forest belonging to the "Zarafshan" National Nature Park located in the neighborhood citizen’s gathering "Zarafshan".

Following this, at 13:27pm fire and rescue units arrived at the scene.  At 14:40pm the fire was under control and at 17:00pm, it was extinguished.

In order to extinguish the fire 6 fire rescue crews from the Department of Emergency Situations were involved.

No one was injured or killed in the incident.  The cause of the fire and the material damage are being determined.

For reference, on 26 July 2020, there was a fire in this park.  At that time, the fire covered 2000 square meters of the park.  A fire on 3 July 2021 destroyed the flora in 1.5 hectares of the park. On 21 February 2022, a fire occurred again in the park, a result of which trees and shrubs on an area of 25 hectares were burned.
