A criminal case is opened on the “Willful destruction” of trees in Uzbekistan

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in the Yunusabad district of Tashkent for laying concrete under the trees. It was reported by the press service under the General Prosecutor’s Office.

The District Prosecutor’s Office conducted a preliminary investigation into the situation in Yunusabad, on the basis of which criminal proceedings were instituted under the Part 3 of Article 198 of Criminal Code.

Consequently, it was discovered on 14 December, at approximately 03:00 to 07:00, the lower parts of 10 Eldora pine trees on 1.5 hectares of land near the 1st house at the intersection of Amir Temur and Chinabad streets in Yunusabad district had been sawn down with an electric saw. As a result, the damage to flora amounted to 83,160,000 sums.  

The case is under investigation of Yunusabad Internal Affairs Office. In reference to this, on 3 February 2022, a businessman made an attempt to destroy a plot of Eldora pines by concreting the land.
