6235Ice cream sold on the street in unsanitary conditions may contain staphylococcal bacteria. The Sanitary-Epidemiological Peace and Public Health Committee has issued a warning to the public regarding this issue.
It is reported that ice cream, primarily made from dairy products, is prone to rapid changes. Therefore, it must always be kept at a cold temperature. If ice cream melts due to heat, it should not be refrozen and consumed. During the melting process, the composition of the ice cream changes, increasing the likelihood of bacterial contamination.
Additionally, many instances of ice cream being sold in unauthorized containers on the street have been reported.
"Today, the number of ice creams sold on the go has increased. Recently, there have been cases of consumer poisoning from these products. Most ice cream containers sold on the street do not meet sanitary requirements, and it is not possible to chemically decontaminate such plastic containers," the report states.
During control raids conducted by the committee, staphylococcal bacteria were found in the ice cream products sold on the street.
Staphylococcus can cause secondary infections in many cases. A person can be poisoned by consuming milk and milk products contaminated with pathogenic staphylococcus, such as cake, ice cream, and other foods.
According to the committee, there is no information about when and where the ice cream sold on the street was made, the conditions under which it was produced, its composition, storage period, or conditions. Additionally, vendors selling this product are not provided with special clothing, and there is no record of their medical examination. Employees involved in the sale of food products, household services, sales outlets, and food production are required to undergo a medical examination every six months.
"Ice cream is beneficial for the normal functioning of the nervous system and gastrointestinal tract, but it is crucial to follow the rules of sanitation and hygiene in its preparation. It is essential to ensure the milk product's source, verify it has passed veterinary expertise and has a certificate, and confirm it was obtained from cows in good epidemiological conditions," the committee emphasized.
The committee also highlighted the importance of adhering to necessary technological processes and maintaining personal hygiene during ice cream production.
It should be noted that the Sanepidem Committee previously reported that energy drinks with unusual packaging and cannabis flavoring were being sold in stores.
