Runaway Gentra involved in five-car collision in Tashkent

On April 19, 2025, a black Gentra without license plates was involved in a hit-and-run incident, colliding with five vehicles while attempting to flee the scene in Tashkent. The Capital City Police Department reported the details of the incident.

According to officials, passenger O.J., who was seated in the front of the vehicle, handed over the Gentra—which was registered under his father’s name and had its plates removed—to S.P., an unlicensed driver. Three women, P.G., K.D., and R.B., were also seated in the back of the vehicle.

As the car erratically navigated through Chilanzar District, it initially hit a Damas vehicle, causing damage. However, a traffic officer present at the scene stated that two Damas vehicles were affected.

Traffic police ordered the driver to stop, but S.P., following O.J.'s instructions, continued driving. The reckless behavior led to collisions with a Cobalt and two Gentra vehicles, injuring drivers and damaging cars, before ultimately crashing into a Matiz, bringing the vehicle to a halt.

Following the incident, criminal charges were filed against S.P. and O.J. under Article 173, Part 2 ("b") of the Criminal Code (property damage) and Article 277, Part 3 ("g") (hooliganism). Both suspects have been detained while investigations continue.

After the Gentra was stopped, its passengers resisted police officers attempting to escort them to the precinct. During the altercation, nearby citizens confronted them, prompting them to shout insults at everyone present.

As a result, all three individuals in the backseat—G.P., B.R., and D.Q.—were found guilty of violating Article 183 ("petty hooliganism") and Article 194, Part 1 ("failure to comply with lawful police orders") under the Administrative Liability Code.

The court ruling imposed a fine of 375,000 UZS on each individual and, under Article 34 ("multiple offenses"), sentenced them to seven days of administrative detention.

Earlier, in April 2025, a high-speed Malibu driver dragged a traffic officer across the hood of the vehicle in Tashkent, prompting an urgent medical response.
