3692In Uzbekistan, families affected by disasters such as fires, floods, earthquakes, and other emergencies who are listed in the Registry of Poor Families will now receive assistance of up to 150 times the basic calculation amount (56,250,000 UZS). This was outlined in the Presidential decree titled “Improving Financing Procedures for the Social Protection System,” issued on January 30, 2025.
Under the decree, Uzbek families in such situations will be provided assistance of up to 150 times the basic calculation amount for repairing and restoring their homes through the “Saxovat va Ko‘mak” Fund.
Additionally, the decree stipulates that funds from the “Youth Notebook” foundation will be used to compensate transportation costs for young individuals with disabilities participating in parasport clubs. This compensation will amount to the equivalent of one basic calculation amount monthly. Monitoring of participation in parasport clubs will be carried out through the Ministry of Sports’ ERP-sport information system. Funds will also be allocated for youths regularly attending sports and arts clubs over six months to purchase special sports uniforms, equipment, musical instruments, and tools, with costs capped at 10 times the basic calculation amount (3,750,000 UZS).
For families in need living in Karakalpakstan and Khorezm regions, instead of one-time financial aid, subsidies will be provided to cover costs for drilling artesian wells, installing water pumps, and purchasing drinking water filters. These subsidies will cover 90% of the costs, but will not exceed 30 times the basic calculation amount (11,250,000 UZS).
The above measures officially came into force today, April 1.
