5283As the New Year approaches, the illegal circulation of pyrotechnics around the world is on the rise. This problem does not bypass Uzbekistan.
According to the State Customs Committee, on 6 October this year, 433 million soms worth of pyrotechnics brought to Tashkent were intercepted.
According to the committee, on 6 October, an Isuzu cargo vehicle driven by a person who was subject to prior surveillance was stopped at the next operational event conducted by the anti-smuggling department of the specialized customs complex “Tashkent-Aero” in cooperation with the State Security Service.
As a result, paper boxes were found hidden behind the hoe handles in the trunk and when opened, they contained 77,272 pieces of pyrotechnics of 5 types.
According to preliminary estimates, the total value of these fireworks and firecrackers, produced abroad, but without documents confirming their quality and customs clearance, is 433 million soms.
Not only that, in the above case, it was found that 28 thousand 640 pieces of lecoplastics and thermometers were illegally imported in the trunk. Their total value exceeded 146 million soms.
In addition, 41,488 items of personal hygiene and perfumery were found among the goods. The packaging of these goods, worth more than 116 million soms, does not contain any information about the place and period of production, or any other necessary information.
SCC stated that the total value of suspended goods in one case is about 696 million soms.
In connection with the situation, the customs authorities are conducting an investigation.
