Officials of Another Organization Allegedly Receiving Salaries up to 400 Million per Year

35304Information has circulated on social networks regarding an organization affiliated with the Technical Regulatory Agency of Uzbekistan, specifically the National Metrology Institute of Uzbekistan, where high salaries have been allegedly paid to employees ranging from the director to the lawyer. A leaked list that surfaced on the internet revealed that the institute's director received 272 million soms, the chief accountant 303 million soms, the lawyer 402 million soms, and department heads 141 and 148 millions soms, respectively. In an effort to investigate this matter, a journalist from QALAMPIR.UZ contacted the institute's press secretary for clarification.
"The figures mentioned encompass quarterly and monthly bonuses, as well as compensation for public holidays and working during holidays," stated the institute's representative. "The Technical Regulatory Agency of Uzbekistan has established a working group to address the concerns raised by employees."
According to the representative, the leaked list includes details of employees' monthly salaries, monthly bonuses, quarterly bonuses (four times a year), holiday allowances (eight public holidays per year), financial support for agricultural products (referred to as "potato money"), as well as remuneration for accrued leave days.
Furthermore, in compliance with existing labour legislation, it has been disclosed that the majority of employees listed (for the years 2022 and 2023) were entitled to two consecutive years of annual leave and an additional month's salary, as per the prescribed procedures.
It is worth noting that the director played a role in developing criteria for evaluationg the institutes performance, thereby contributing to the formulation of reccomendations and measures for enhancing operations. Additionally, the director actively participated in organizing relevant international events such as meetings, conferences, and gatherings, for which incentives were provided. All these actions were carried out in accordance with the institute's charter.
Furthermore, it should be recalled that there were earlier reports of high salaries being paid to the head and accountant of another organization under the Technical Regulatory Agency of Uzbekistan, namely the Uzbekistan Scientific-Testing and Quality Control Center" (UzTest). According to these reports, the institution's chief accountant received a total of 469 million soms, while the head of the organization received 136 million soms during the months of January and February.
Subsequently, the accuracy of these reports was confirmed, and the relevant documents were submmitted to the General Prosecutor's Office for legal assessment.
As a result, the head of the Scientific-Testing and Quality Control Center of Uzbekistan was dismissed from their position.
