Uzhydromet issued an urgent warning

There is a risk of flooding in the foothills and mountainous regions of the republic due to heavy rainfall expected on 2-4 April this year.  Sherzodhoja Habibullaev, general director of the Hydrometeorological Service Center, informed us about this. 

It is noted that rain will fall from time to time in Uzbekistan during these days.  The rain will be strong in Navoi, Samarkand, and Kashkadarya regions, in some places in the foothills and mountainous regions.  Hail may fall in some regions of the republic. 

Residents of the following areas have been warned of flood risk: 

Kashkadarya region — Yakkabog, Dehkanabad, Chirakchi, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Qamashi, Guzor districts; 
Surkhandarya region — Sariosia, Uzun, Altinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherabad, Shorchi, Kumkurgan, Muzrabot districts; 
Samarkand region — Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurabad, Koshrabot, Kattakurgan, Payariq, Jomboy, Ishtikhan districts; 
Navoi region — Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimekh, Karmana districts; 
Jizzakh region — Zomin, Bakhmal, Gallaorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, Yangiabad districts; 
Tashkent region — Ohangaron, Bostonliq, Parkent, Piskent, Orta Chirchik, Upper Chirchik districts, and the cities of Angren, Almalik; 
Namangan region — Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, Yangikurgan districts; 
Fergana region — Sokh, Shahimardan, Fergana, and Beshariq districts; 
Andijan region - Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduq, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, Marhamat districts, and the city of Khanabad. 

"Citizens living in foothills and mountainous areas, vacationers, and drivers moving in mountainous areas are requested to take precautionary measures," the message read. 

Also, on 1-7 April 2023, the danger of snow drifts due to the expected precipitation has been announced in the Chimyan mountains natural area of the Chotkal range in the Bostonliq district of the Tashkent region.
