4242Akbar Sultanov has been appointed as the new Chairman of the “Uzcharmsanoat” Association, which oversees the leather, footwear, and fur industries in Uzbekistan.
The decision was made during an extraordinary general meeting held on November 25, 2024, where Sultanov was unanimously approved for the role. The meeting also resulted in the election of a new council for the association.
In addition to organizational changes, the meeting outlined ambitious targets for the leather and footwear sectors. For 2024, the association aims to produce 2.7 billion square decimeters of leather, 205 million pairs of footwear, and 143 million leather and perfumery products. By 2025, these production figures are expected to grow even further.
Akbar Sultanov had previously served as the first deputy chairman of the association since May 2021. He replaces Fakhriddin Boboyev, who had chaired the association since April 2020 but was relieved of his duties in March 2024 due to a transfer to another position. Before Boboyev, Sardor Umurzakov had led the association.
