Judoka from Uzbekistan wins the bronze medal at the Olympics

Alisher Yusupov, who represented Uzbekistan in the judo contests at the Paris Olympics in the +100 kg weight category, secured 3rd place on the tatami against Saito Tatsuro from Japan.

The 25-year-old Yusupov won the bronze medal by ippon in an intense competition against the 22-year-old world champion Tatsuro.

With this victory, the total number of medals won by Uzbek judokas in the Olympics has reached three. Prior to this, Diyora Keldiyorova and Muzaffarbek Turaboev had added medals to the delegation's tally.

Yusupov had previously been a prize winner at the World Championships and the Asian Games. Now, he has an Olympic medal to his name.
