A new consul has been assigned to oversee Uzbekistan's consulate in St. Petersburg. This update was announced by the "Dunyo" news agency.

Abdurahmon Mahmudov, the newly appointed Consul General, has already arrived in Russia's northern capital.

Mahmudov, 37, holds a bachelor's degree from Namangan State University and a master's degree from Tashkent State Law University. He has served in various roles within the Tashkent city court handling criminal cases and within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2019 to 2023, he served as the first secretary and later as a consultant at the Uzbekistan Embassy in Ukraine.

Mahmudov replaces Alisher Boboev, who led the Consulate General in St. Petersburg from 2019 to 2024.

The consulate's jurisdiction encompasses 11 regions in the North-West of Russia, including the Republic of Karelia, Republic of Komi, Arkhangelsk Region, Vologda Region, Kaliningrad Region, Leningrad Region, Murmansk Region, Novgorod Region, Pskov Region, St. Petersburg City, and Nenets Autonomous District.
