For many years, forced labor, including child labor, which placed Uzbekistan on several “black lists” has been completely abolished. The president of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced this at the opening ceremony of the first Tashkent International Investment Forum today, March 24.

"The country is taking the necessary measures to develop a civil society, ensure freedom of speech and create a democratic media space, which are important aspects of our reforms.

We are making significant progress in turning the media into «fourth Government» and increasing the accountability of state bodies to the population.
The most important achievement in this plan is that we get rid of the «closed environment» in our society and build the foundation of the new Uzbekistan on the principles of freedom and justice», –Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The Head of the State highlighted the recent cancellation of the international boycott of Uzbek cotton and textiles by the international coalition “Cotton Campaign” and the world-renowned brands, as the recognition of the eradication of child and forced labor in the country.
