Uzbekistan’s second-ranked tennis player changes

Today, February 2, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) published its updated professional rankings. As a result, Australian Open participant Polina Kudermetova has become Uzbekistan’s second-ranked player.
According to the updated rankings, Uzbekistan’s top-ranked player, Kamilla Rakhimova, retained her position and remains ranked 93rd. Following her appearance at the Australian Open, Polina Kudermetova climbed 11 places to 139th, taking over the status of the country’s second racket from Maria Timofeeva. Timofeeva dropped 17 positions and is now ranked 155th.
Several changes were also recorded in the WTA top 10 after the Australian Open. Tournament champion Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan moved up from fifth to third place. American Coco Gauff fell from third to fifth. Despite losing to Rybakina in the Australian Open final, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka continues to lead the rankings by a wide margin, while Poland’s Iga Swiatek holds second place.
