The state debt of Uzbekistan reaches almost 35 billion dollars

As of January 1, 2024, Uzbekistan's public debt stood at 34.9 billion US dollars, representing 38.4 percent of the country's GDP, according to a report from the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The nation's external debt amounts to 29.6 billion US dollars, while internal debt is 5.3 billion US dollars.

Uzbekistan's main creditors include the World Bank, which is owed 6.6 billion dollars, the Asian Development Bank with 6.4 billion dollars, and international investors with 3.4 billion dollars.

The report highlights that last year, Uzbekistan repaid three-year international bonds worth 2 trillion soums issued in 2020. Additionally, it notes that 71.4 percent of the country's external debt is denominated in dollars, 6.9 percent in soums, and 6.2 percent in Japanese yen.
