CAFA Nations Cup 2025: Group stage opponents for Uzbekistan announced

On July 3, the draw for the CAFA Nations Cup 2025, scheduled to take place from August 29 to September 8 this year, was held. The news was reported by the Football Association of Uzbekistan.

According to the draw results, Uzbekistan, as the host nation, has been placed in Group A. The teams that will face the Uzbekistan national team in the group stage are the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan, and Oman.

Meanwhile, Group B includes the national teams of Tajikistan (co-host), Iran, Afghanistan, and Malaysia.

It is worth noting that all Group A matches, as well as the final, will be held in Tashkent. Group B matches and the third-place playoff will be hosted in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

For reference, the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) was established in June 2014 and is one of five regional associations under the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The other four are the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF), the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), and the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF). The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), in contrast, does not operate within such a regional system.
