Uzbekistan national team and Iran’s Foolad club goalkeeper, Otkir Yusupov, has sustained an injury during the CAFA Nations Cup that turned out to be more serious than initially expected, Footballi reported.
According to the outlet, Yusupov has not been participating in Foolad Khuzestan’s recent training sessions. He may need to undergo surgery, although the timing of his return to training with Foolad remains uncertain.
’’Tomorrow, Foolad will host Kheybar Khorramabad in the fourth round of the Pro League,’’ the report added.
Yusupov sustained an injury during the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 final match between the national teams of Uzbekistan and Iran, which forced him to leave the field. Due to this injury, the goalkeeper did not travel to Iran and remained in Uzbekistan for treatment.
It is worth noting that Uzbekistan secured a 1–0 victory over Iran thanks to a last-minute goal by Khojiakbar Alijonov in that match, clinching the tournament title.
