Former Uzbek ambassador to India Surat Mirkosimov passes away

6283Surat Mirkosimov, the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to India, passed away today, March 24, after a prolonged illness. His friends confirmed the news to QALAMPIR.UZ.
Mirkosimov was a distinguished diplomat, educator, and ambassador. He authored four textbooks on diplomacy and published more than 50 scientific articles.
Born on April 25, 1939, in Tashkent, Mirkosimov was of Uzbek nationality and held a higher education degree. In 1963, he graduated summa cum laude from the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Tashkent State University with qualifications as an orientalist and Indian studies specialist.
He held several significant positions throughout his career, including:
- First Deputy of the National Association for International Humanitarian and Cultural Relations of Uzbekistan (1991–1993)
- First Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to India (1993–1997)
- Honorary Professor of the Department of Foreign Policy and Diplomacy at the Academy of State and Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan (1998–2012)
- Honorary Professor of the Department of Organization of Management of Foreign Economic and Investment Activities at the Academy of State Administration of Uzbekistan (2012–2016)
- Honorary Professor of the Department of Enlightenment and Spirituality at the Academy of State Administration of Uzbekistan (2016–2018)
- Honorary Professor of the Department of World Politics at the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (from September 2018)
As an ambassador, diplomat, and educator, Mirkosimov actively participated in numerous international conferences, symposiums, and seminars. His primary areas of research included diplomacy, diplomatic protocol, and business etiquette.
