Top destinations for Uzbeks emigrating abroad

18956Most Uzbeks who left Uzbekistan for permanent residence in the past nine months chose Kazakhstan as their destination, with 82.4% of emigrants relocating there, according to the Statistics Agency.
The distribution of emigrants from Uzbekistan by country from January to September is as follows:
- Kazakhstan: 6,903 people
- Russia: 1,193 people
- Kyrgyzstan: 49 people
- South Korea: 60 people
- Turkmenistan: 30 people
- Other countries: 139 people
In total, 14,666 people emigrated from Uzbekistan in the first nine months of 2023, with Kazakhstan attracting the highest number, recording 11,921 Uzbek immigrants during this period.
Additionally, statistics show that education abroad is another common reason for Uzbeks leaving the country. Between January and August 2024, 25,800 Uzbek citizens went abroad to study—a 2.4% increase from the same period last year.
