Two more taekwondo players from Uzbekistan reached the Paralympic finals

7619The 2024 Paris Summer Paralympic Games, currently underway in France, continue to generate intense competition. In the Taekwondo category, two more athletes from Uzbekistan have secured their places in the finals.
Guljanoy Naimova triumphed over Brazil's Deborah Menezes with a 9-3 victory in the women's +65 kg weight category semi-final, earning her a spot in the decisive final stage. The gold medal match for Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympics champion Guljanoy Naimova is scheduled to begin today at 23:48 Tashkent time. She will face the winner of the semi-final between Mexico's Fernanda Vargas and Great Britain's Amy Truesdale.
Asad Toshtemirov, representing Uzbekistan in the men's -80 kg weight category, also advanced to the finals after a successful semi-final match. Toshtemirov defeated Iran's Alireza Bakht with an 18-12 score, securing his place in the final. His final match will take place today at 23:34 Tashkent time, where he will compete against Mexico's Luis Mario Najera.
With these victories, both taekwondo athletes have guaranteed at least a silver medal for the Uzbek delegation. Currently, Uzbekistan's Paralympic delegation has won a total of 8 medals: 3 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze.
It is also worth noting that Mohigul Hamdamova secured a bronze medal in the discus throw event, F57 class, at the Paralympic Games. She achieved a throw of 32.75 meters, placing her third on the podium.
