Uzbek student wins international german language olympiad

7080An Uzbek student has emerged victorious in the final stage of the World German Language Olympiad, held from July 15 to 22 in Göttingen, Germany, according to the “Dunyo” news agency.
Rayyona Ibrohimova, a student from School No. 23 in Andijan, successfully passed all stages of the international German language competition, which saw over 100 students aged 14 to 17 from 62 countries participate. She secured first place in her respective category.
The competition, held under the slogan “Be with us! Gain knowledge and create the future,” also saw Mahek Khan from Bangladesh and Ana Kotevska from North Macedonia win in their respective language levels.
The World German Language Olympiad (IDO) has been organized by the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the International Association of German Language Teachers since 2008, and it takes place every two years. This year’s event was held in close cooperation with the Göttingen City Mayor Petra Broistedt, the Göttingen University Museum of Knowledge, and the Knowledge Forum.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, Uzbekistan was disqualified from the 2024 International Biology Olympiad (IBO), with all participating students' results annulled, and the country was removed from the list of IBO member states.
