The Russian military has repelled an attempted attack by four suicide bombers on a military base in Syria, according to the Telegram channel Mash, which also shared a video of the incident.

Three of the attackers were reportedly killed during the assault.

The attack occurred in the early hours of May 20 in the city of Latakia, near the Khmeimim airbase. The militants attempted to breach security posts, but Russian forces engaged them in a firefight. As a result, three terrorists were killed, while the fourth retreated. He was targeted with an anti-tank grenade launcher, though it remains unclear whether the strike was successful.

Preliminary reports suggest that all four attackers were citizens of Uzbekistan and do not recognize the legitimacy of the current Syrian government.
