Judokas from Uzbekistan conclude World Championship with two medals

The World Judo Championship, held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, has concluded. The national team of Uzbekistan secured two medals in the event.

On May 24, the Uzbek athletes competed in the mixed team program but were defeated by Italy in the match for third place. Consequently, Uzbekistan ended the tournament with a silver medal for Diyora Keldiyorova in the -52 kg category and a bronze medal for Alisher Yusupov in the +100 kg category.

Notably, the Japanese team, hailing from the birthplace of judo, won the team event, having defeated Uzbekistan in the semi-finals.

Overall, Uzbekistan ranked 11th in the competition. Japan topped the standings with 3 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals, totaling 9. Georgia finished second with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal. South Korea rounded out the top three with 5 medals.
