An Uzbek woman who sold her two children to a fraudster has been arrested in Russia, as reported by Russian mass media.

The buyer was identified as Yuliya Loginova, a 47-year-old mother of 15 children who had previously been arrested for human trafficking and, in the past, on charges of poisoning babies with chemicals.

According to the investigation, Loginova purchased five newborn babies to fraudulently obtain social benefits, two of whom belonged to a 30-year-old woman from Uzbekistan. The Uzbek woman was apprehended after Loginova became involved in the fraud investigation.

As per the prosecutor's office, the Uzbek woman sold her two children a daughter born in 2015 and a son born in 2016—to a Russian individual. Loginova manipulated the documents and fraudulently registered these children as born to a surrogate mother. An ongoing investigation is currently underway.

Previously, it was reported that Uzbekistan had requested Russia to open kindergartens and schools for migrant children.
