Authorities intercepted 8.2 kilograms of narcotics smuggled into Uzbekistan from neighboring countries, the State Security Service reported.
During a joint operation with the Kashkadarya regional department of the State Security Service and internal affairs bodies, a resident of the Uzun district, born in 1995, was detained while transporting 896 grams of “hashish” smuggled from Tajikistan to a secret location in the Denov district for subsequent sale.
The operation continued, resulting in the seizure of 2 kilograms 260 grams of “opium” from the suspect’s apartment in accordance with procedural rules.
In a related case, a vehicle driven by a 1987-born citizen residing in Namangan, who has a prior conviction, was stopped and inspected. Authorities discovered 2 kilograms 990 grams of “hashish” in the passenger compartment.
During the pre-investigation, it was established that this narcotic substance was transported into the Yangikurgan district by a Kyrgyz citizen through indirect routes, with plans to sell it in Namangan city.
In the Fergana region, two men — a 1973-born resident of Margilan city and a 1971-born resident of Tashlak district — were arrested while conspiring to sell 487 grams of “hashish” imported from Tajikistan for \$5,000.
Additionally, 599 grams of “hashish” were seized from the apartment of the resident of Tashlak district in compliance with legal procedures.
Both individuals have previous convictions.
A similar incident occurred in the Samarkand region, where a resident of Urgut district and his accomplice, both with prior drug-related convictions, were detained while selling 982 grams of “opium” smuggled from Tajikistan to a buyer for \$8,000.
Criminal cases have been initiated against all suspects, and preventive arrest measures have been applied.
It should be recalled that earlier about 50 kilograms of “opium” smuggled from Tajikistan were confiscated by Uzbek authorities.
