Uzbekistan to import over 100 drones for agricultural use

Uzbekistan plans to introduce drone technology into the agricultural sector. This was announced on July 31 during a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was reported that more than 100 modern drones will be imported into Uzbekistan this fall. Officials have been instructed to engage the private sector and establish drone-based service systems for farmers.

The meeting also emphasized the need to establish a legal framework to prevent the burning of crop stubble. Additionally, it was noted that space-based research will be used to analyze construction, land cadastre, non-ferrous metal mines, forests, and pastures. Ministers and regional governors were tasked with studying the findings and preparing development plans accordingly.

It should be recalled that earlier this year, the Ministry of Agriculture announced the signing of an agreement with Malaysian company Meraque to localize drone production in Uzbekistan. Moreover, Yuri Kozarenko, CEO of the Russian company "Transport Buduego," which develops unmanned aerial systems, announced on April 28 at the plenary session of the international industrial exhibition INNOPROM. Central Asia that a civilian drone manufacturing company will be launched in Uzbekistan by the end of this year.
