A Russian was caught transporting 16,000 dollars from Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan

A Russian citizen who tried to take more than 16 thousand dollars in cash from the border of Kyrgyzstan through Uzbekistan was arrested.  This was reported by the border service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan.

"On 27 March 2023, the border guards of the Dostuk-Avtodorzhniy checkpoint, together with the State Customs Service officers, put an end to the illegal transfer of funds across the border," the report said. 

According to the information of the border management, the Russian who was caught at the checkpoint, entered Kyrgyzstan from Uzbekistan.

The total amount of seized funds was 16,275 dollars.  He tried to enter with foreign currency without declaring the money, circumventing the Kyrgyz customs legislation. 

"Relevant documents were filled out, and the detained citizen and money were handed over to the authorized body for further investigation," says the border service. 

According to the legislation of Kyrgyzstan, cash foreign currency imported into the country must be declared.  The suspect will be fined. 

It should be noted that in the Tortkol district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, persons were caught illegally importing 72 liters of vodka in 48 plastic containers.
