More than 10 deputy governors (khokims) of districts and cities have been dismissed in Uzbekistan

16 deputy governors (khokims) of cities and districts of Uzbekistan were dismissed from their posts.  In addition, a number of prosecutors, heads from the Department of Internal Affairs and the Tax Inspectorate were dismissed.  This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on 19 April at a video-conference.

According to the president’s spokesman, at the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions to consider the candidacy for the post of first deputy governors of the Fergana and Khorezm regions. Also:
- Governors of Altynkul district and Zarashan city;
- 1st Deputy Governors of the cities of Navoi and Kattakurgan, Bekabad, Akkurgan, Kosonsoy, Nišanski, Izbozkan, Kurgantepa, Shovot, Turtkul, Tomdi, Turakurgan, Kumkurgan, Fergana districts,;
- Prosecutors of the Karmana and Forish districts;
- Chiefs of the Yangiyer, Shakhrisabz, Forish district police departments;
- Tax administrators of the Nurata, Muzrabat, Shakhrisabz, Mirzachul districts;
- and 11 representatives from the Republican Government were dismissed.

In addition, it was noted at the meeting that despite having all the infrastructure and financial resources, the activities of most assistant governors in 12 cities of the country, as well as in the Tashkent region, Tashkent city and 2 districts of Samarkand were considered «unsatisfactory».

In this regard:
- the first Deputy Governors of the cities of Nukus, Andijan, Bukhara, Samarkand, Termez, Gulistan, Fergana, Margilan, Almalyk, Chirchik, Angren, Bekabad;
- the first Deputy Governors of Uchtepa, Mirzo-Ulugbek, Tashkent, Kibray, Bustanlyk and Urgut districts were also dismissed.

In turn, the necessity of involving experienced specialists, continuous training of assistant governors of these cities and districts, and giving instructions, teaching expedite practices was stated.

It was stated that over the past three months, the specialization of each neighborhood was determined, and a system was introduced to support the specialization of these neighborhoods.
