The “Green payment” platform is established in Uzbekistan

Yesterday, on November 23, the Presidential Decree "On measures to further increase the level of greenness in the Republic, to ensure environmental stability through the consistent implementation of the nationwide project "Green Space"" was adopted. According to the decree, at least 50 percent of the funds allocated annually from the state budget for the implementation of the nationwide project "Green Space" will be directed to the organization of "green gardens" and "green public parks" based on public opinion through the "Open Budget" information portal. In this case, an initiative for the organization of "green parks" and "green public parks" by the population is presented, along with the address and pictures of the area, the value of which does not exceed 250 million soums.

The process of forming and voting on "My Garden" projects is held every year in January-February. In accordance with the decree, "green parks" on the unused part of the land plots of roads, railways, rivers, and canals, state bodies and organizations (excluding forest fund lands) will be established. The owners, users of these lands, as well as initiative natural and legal entities, will enter into a bilateral agreement under appropriate conditions for a period of 10 years.

Land plots are given to the republican and local executive authorities based on the right of permanent use for the establishment of a "green garden." Additionally, the "Greenest Neighborhood" contest is held every year, and the 14 winning neighborhoods are awarded funds from the Ecology Fund. A total of 500 million soums will be transferred to the appropriate fund of the neighborhood for planting and watering trees, creating a "green public park," and measures will be taken to purchase and hand over 1 electric car to the self-governing bodies for use in the service.

In 2024, the employment of at least 10,000 people will be ensured by establishing home-based seedling cultivation on 1.5 thousand hectares of forest fund land. The "Green Payment" platform, providing services for voluntary donation transfers by users of electronic payment systems and other consumers to support the organization of planting tree and shrub seedlings based on the orders of individuals and legal entities, will be introduced.

Also, in 2024-2026, "green belts" will be established around the city of Tashkent on a total area of 441 hectares.
