In Uzbekistan, the price of new and last year’s onions has decreased.  This was reported by “East Fruit”.

According to the data, the average wholesale price of fresh onions fell from 8,000 soms to 4,000 soms per 1 kg from 14 April to 21 April of this year.  Also, the wholesale price of onions grown last year has decreased.  The reason for this is the sharp increase in the supply of fresh onions to the domestic market of Uzbekistan.  According to experts, this is putting pressure on last year’s onion prices.

For information, in the same period last year, the average wholesale price of these products decreased from 6,000 soms to 5,000 soms per 1 kg.

It should be recalled that according to the State Statistics Agency, as of 18 January of this year, the price of 1 kg of onion in Uzbekistan reached 10,000 soms.  This was caused by the anomalous cold that was observed at the beginning of the year.  The severe cold affected the condition of the onion product and froze it.  After that, the Ministry of Agriculture introduced a temporary restriction on the export of onions in Uzbekistan for 4 months starting from 1 January 2023.  But by the middle of March, the restriction on onion export was cancelled.
