An international search operation was carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, the State Security Service, and the Customs Service to combat transnational organized drug crime. As a result, 111 kilograms of narcotics were seized, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
It is noted that in September of this year, an international search operation was organized jointly with law enforcement agencies to counter transnational organized crime. A task force consisting of officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, and the Customs Service was established, resulting in the seizure of 111 kilograms of narcotics.
Six members of an international organized drug gang were detained in the Fergana, Andijan, and Tashkent regions. In particular, on September 13, a resident of the Fergana region was detained while receiving narcotics. The operation continued, leading to the arrest of two members of the organized criminal group in the Andijan region while they were retrieving 10 kilograms of “hashish” from a buried location.
During subsequent investigative operations, two other members of the criminal group from the Andijan region were detained while purchasing one kilogram of “opium” for six thousand dollars in a restaurant located in the district.
As part of the operation conducted in the city of Angren, Tashkent region, to apprehend the remaining members of the group, a person previously convicted three times was detained while receiving five kilograms of “opium.” The cross-border organized drug group had reportedly been operating for several years, distributing narcotics across the Andijan, Fergana, and Tashkent regions, as well as in Tashkent city.
A criminal case has been initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and the investigation is ongoing. Urgent measures are currently being taken to arrest the remaining members of the criminal organization.
It is worth noting that earlier, it was reported that the sale of more than 25 kilograms of narcotics imported from Afghanistan had been prevented in the Fergana region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
