Uzbekistan establishes “Legacy of the Future” international award

Uzbekistan has established the “Legacy of the Future” international award to recognize and support local and foreign creators and intellectuals who achieve outstanding results in literature, culture, arts, science, education, and digital technologies, and contribute meaningfully to the development of national and universal values as well as global cultural progress. The decision was made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on November 3.
According to the decree, starting in 2025, the award will be presented annually in the following categories:
- Literature
- Cultural heritage
- Theater and cinema
- Music and dance
- Fine and applied arts
- Fashion and design
- Science, education, and digital technologies
Winners in each category will receive a statuette, a diploma, and a one-time cash prize of USD 10,000. The award ceremony will be held in a formal international setting.
Previously, Uzbekistan had also established awards named after Mahmudkhoja Behbudi, a leading figure of the Jadid movement, writer, publicist, dramatist, and public figure, as well as Bahodir Yuldoshev, a theater and cinema actor and director.
