Criminal liability for disclosure of information about a person's private life is established in Uzbekistan

16401In Uzbekistan, criminal liability has been imposed for the disclosure of confidential information about a person’s life. This is stated in the Presidential Decree «On measures to further accelerate the work on system support of the family and women».
According to the decree, the Ministry of Justice (R.Q Davletov), the General Prosecutor’s Office (N.T. Yuldashev), the Supreme Court (K.F. Kamilov), the Ministry of Internal Affairs (P.R. Bobojonov) and the Committee (Z.B. Mahkamova) should submit the relevant bill to the Cabinet of Ministers by 1 June 2022. The bill includes:
- to establish a court order for a period of up to one year to provide State protection to victims of harassment and violence;
- not to use coercive measures to expel foreign citizens from the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan and to restrict their right to enter the Republic of Uzbekistan if they have been tried or brought to administrative liability for failure to meet maintenance obligations in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
- increase the responsibility for forcing a woman to undergo abortion;
- increase liability for intentional bodily harm to a woman who is a close relative;
- criminalize the disclosure of personal and confidential information leading to humiliation and loss of dignity.
-establish a type of administrative sanction whereby payment or other work will be imposed on a person who refuses to support a minor in need of material assistance for more than two months.
It was previously reported that maintenance debtors would be deprived of the right to drive and marry.
