The duration of work experience required to obtain a medical qualification category is reduced

In Uzbekistan, the length of work experience required for obtaining the qualification category of medical personnel will be decreased. This is stated in the decree of the president of Uzbekistan, and was adopted yesterday 11 April, «On measures to create additional capacity for the private sector in the field of medicine and support the field personnel ».

The decree approved the following proposals by the Ministry of Healthcare to improve the professional development of medical personnel:

• establishment of clinical bases of medical higher education institutions in non-State medical organizations, training and retraining of doctors and nurses;
• reduction of the amount of work experience needed to obtain the qualification category, setting the period up to 3 years for unclassified personnel, 5 years for the first category and 7 years for the high category.

The Ministry of Health, together with the Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, Public Health Service, and the Ministry of Construction, will amend the relevant regulations within two months, simplifying the sanitary and construction requirements for obtaining a license for organizations engaged in private medical activities.
