There are no plans to introduce a social norm for drinking water in Uzbekistan. This was stated by Khurshid Rahmatullayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of "Uzsuvta’minot" JSC, during a press conference held at AOKA.

According to Rahmatullayev, water is a vital necessity, and there is currently no need to impose any restrictions or limits on its use.

"This is my opinion as a responsible person. We are also observing the processes taking place in Kazakhstan, but calling it a tiered system is somewhat inaccurate," Rahmatullayev said.

According to the information, the level of provision with water meters in Uzbekistan is 87 percent.

"Even if we achieve a 100 percent provision level, there are no plans to introduce a social norm for drinking water in the near future from the perspective of water reserves and conservation," added the Deputy Chairman of the Board of "Uzsuvta’minot" JSC.

For reference, as of May 1 this year, electricity and gas tariffs have been changed in a tiered manner in Uzbekistan. The price of electricity for consumers in Groups I and II remained unchanged at 1000 soums and 900 soums per kWh, respectively.

For consumers in Group III, including those living in multi-story buildings and dormitories equipped with centralized electric stoves, the following rates were set based on monthly consumption:

  • Up to 200 kWh per month – 225 soums;
  • From 201 kWh to 1,000 kWh per month – 450 soums;
  • From 1,001 kWh to 5,000 kWh per month – 675 soums;
  • From 5,001 kWh to 10,000 kWh per month – 787.5 soums;
  • Over 10,000 kWh per month – 900 soums.

For other household consumers, the rates based on monthly consumption are:

  • Up to 200 kWh per month – 450 soums;
  • From 201 kWh to 1,000 kWh per month – 900 soums;
  • From 1,001 kWh to 5,000 kWh per month – 1,350 soums;
  • From 5,001 kWh to 10,000 kWh per month – 1,575 soums;
  • Over 10,000 kWh per month – 1,800 soums.

The rates for consumers in Group IV also remained unchanged at 900 soums per kWh.

Additionally, the payment amount for natural gas supply to consumers remained unchanged at 1,500 soums per cubic meter.

For large wholesale consumers and budget organizations, the price of natural gas also remained unchanged at 1,800 soums per cubic meter.

For communal and household needs during the heating season from November to February, the price per cubic meter of natural gas is as follows:

  • Up to 500 cubic meters – from 380 soums to 650 soums;
  • From 500 to 2,500 cubic meters – 1,500 soums;
  • From 2,500 to 5,000 cubic meters – 1,950 soums;
  • From 5,000 to 10,000 cubic meters – 2,275 soums;
  • Over 10,000 cubic meters – 2,600 soums.

For gas consumption from March to October, the tariffs are:

  • Up to 100 cubic meters – 650 soums;
  • From 101 to 2,500 cubic meters – 1,500 soums;
  • From 2,500 to 5,000 cubic meters – 1,950 soums;
  • From 5,000 to 10,000 cubic meters – 2,275 soums;
  • Over 10,000 cubic meters – 2,600 soums.

Additionally, the tariff for liquefied gas for households increased from 1,120 soums to 1,600 soums per kilogram. From July 1, the price of gas supplied to gas-filling compressor stations for vehicles increased from 1,500 soums to 1,800 soums.
