Meat prices in Uzbekistan have increased by up to 8 percent over the past month, according to data provided by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
As of March 24, wholesale prices for beef at the “Eski Juva” (Chorsu) market in Tashkent ranged from 75,000 to 108,000 soums.
Over the past week, the minimum price of meat rose by 7.1 percent, while the maximum price increased by 2.9 percent. On a monthly basis, prices climbed by up to 7.1 percent and 8 percent, respectively.
At the same time, beef ribs were priced at 75,000–80,000 soums, forequarter cuts at 85,000–95,000 soums, and hindquarter cuts at 90,000–100,000 soums. Chilled imported meat was sold at prices ranging from 75,000 to 108,000 soums.
It is worth noting that earlier reports indicated that high volumes of meat exports from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan had influenced domestic beef prices. Kazakhstan produces more meat than it consumes, and this applies to all types of meat.
