An excise tax on carbonated and energy drinks will be implemented in Uzbekistan starting April 1 of this year. This regulation is outlined in the law 'On amendments and additions to certain legal documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the adoption of the main directions of the tax and budget policy for 2024.'

As per the document, a 500 soum excise tax per 1 liter will be imposed on carbonated beverages (excluding energy and refreshing drinks) containing sugar or other sweetening/flavoring substances and packaged for consumers. Additionally, energy and refreshing drinks will face a 2,000 soum excise tax per 1 liter.

It's worth noting that the previously reported 'zero' rate for AI-80 brand gasoline, applied to imported and locally produced gasoline sold by entrepreneurs, has now expired.
