In June of this year, 135.6 billion soums of damage were caused to the energy system of Uzbekistan due to the illegal use of electricity and gas. This was reported by the Inspectorate for Supervision of the Use of Electricity, Oil Products, and Gas.
According to the report, 234 cases of unauthorized use of energy resources by consumers were detected during the past month.
As a result, 50.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity (causing 103 billion soums in losses) and 12.4 million cubic meters of natural gas (causing 32.6 billion soums in losses) were stolen, bringing the total damage to 135.669 billion soums.
In addition, 471 administrative cases were opened for violations of energy usage rules by consumers.
The inspectorate stated that the necessary legal measures were taken against those found in violation, and the relevant documents were submitted to law enforcement agencies.
It should be recalled that earlier in the Rishton district of the Fergana region, a cold storage facility was discovered to have illegally used electricity worth 1.4 billion soums.
